A 1962 Original, Restored Not Reinvented

Designed by a young Preston & Wray in 1962 for an Austin ophthalmologist, the house’s signature clerestory windows were boarded over sometime in the 1980s. The recent restoration reopened every one of them and rebuilt the original terrazzo floors from salvaged slab. Nothing about the floor plan changed — the work was entirely in service of the original architecture.

Mid-century originals this intact rarely come up in Rosedale, and buyers who care about provenance found it within days of listing. Sold above ask to a couple relocating from Los Angeles specifically for the house.
